OH, and IAN YOUR AN IDIOT

IAN IS MISSING, HAVE YOU SEEN HIM? no but did you teach your kid anything the 18 years you raised him? like to always call when something comes up, like missing your ride back from TN to DE? in this day and age there is no excuse to not call, with everyone have unlimited minuets, or pay phones ( im sorry but if i rele had to i could scramble up a dollar to make the fone call home) YOUR SON OBVIOUSLY HATES YOU YOU DUMB BITCH. im surprised other parents havnt torn u apart. im a kid and im saying im always more prepared than i should be. your kid probly got ditched by his friends, for being a dick, and then didnt want his nagging mommy to get on his case. regardless i would of called to tell my parents i was stranded.. GET OFF THE MESSAGE BOARDS AND GO TAKE A PARENTING CLASS. im not sum immature highschool punk like i was called, its common sense, sorry for the unfortunate situation, and that u were worried, BUT YOU DUG YOUR OWN HOLE!

The Roast of bonnaroo

This really made me tick.
I started this blog as a result.

It's march 2009, and for the past year I've wanted to attend a music festival. I finaly settle on Bonnaroo, music and arts festival in Manchester, Tn. The prospects were hopefull, and i was excited to see all of the music; from the jam bands, to the big acts, bonnaroo was talked up by my friends, its founders and everyone who knew about it. why wouldn't someone talk up a festival, that has everything from the likes of techno, to rap to phish! With a ferris wheel, food from all over the world, and a list of multi-cultural activities and interactive art, who could complain, everybodies likes were covered! But what about dislikes, and inconvieniences? This festival were full of those too!

Lets start by saying that this festival was not what it cracked up to me.

dirty
commercial
sketchy
crowded
smelly

just a few words that come to mind when i think of Bonnaroo 09

PAUSE
its my birthday, I JUST TURNED 18 @ 12am 6/20 !

Back to my rant...

1. Greening. They attempted and failed. Never have i seen so many people disrespect the land like my fellow patrons. Even the Clean Vibes crew were too lazy to point to which bin ( compost, landfill, or plastic ) i should dispose of my trash in. it seems as if all attempts to recycle were voided when the morning after phish's 1st show the walkways were flooded with deflated and popped nitrous ballons. Clean Vibes didn't even care about their jobs, they were in it purely to get the free tickets, and perks that comes with being a volunteer. Water conservation. They sell the reusable bonnaroo cantine, but it wasn't cost effective, didn't make me want to buy it. Even if it were cheap, i most likely wouldn't only because its an unneccesary expense. Another way to conserve water would be to turn on the fountains (for playing in, not drinking) during the hottest part of the day and turn it off at night when it cools down. INSTEAD it was on all night, yes the lights looked awsome, but for such a green festival, it sure didn't make sense to me, and i don't even recycle at home. So while the Clean Vibes crew were ignoring the trash being tossed on the ground right infront of them, and the fountains were flooding the grass at night, I wanderd around to the vendors, to read up on some other Green solutions. Again, none of the voluteers at any of these seperate organizations knew their head from their feet, and i was left with a bunch of stickers, and flyers, most of which were probably tossed on the ground.

2. Sound quality/quality of the shows. IT SUCKED! heres why. When i wasn't stuck in the back for a show, i was smashed between frat boys and parents having a middle aged crisis on top of the fence guarding my spot for my life. If i didn't come with a full water bottle or two, snacks, and everything else i could possibly need in 5 hours time, i would need to move from my spot, and would of wasted all the time spent staking it. no water stations or food stations were close enough to sneak away even for a minuet, only beer concessions, thats really what i need when im dehydrated. there were only 2 screens at each stage or less. so when i was stuck in the back, it was like listening to Live on air radio. The reverb from the stages were awfull. I didn't know bonnaroo was on top of mt everest. so, the reverb sucked in the back, no matter how squished i was in the front i still couldnt see, and almost every act came on late. you think for a music festival, theyd at least get the music part right.

3. Vendors. hippie clothes, glass, hippie clothes, green apparel... ALL THE SAME some chick even had to stands open in 2 different locations, 1 in the campgrounds and one on the festival grounds, selling the same merchandise. Supposively its really hard to become a bonnaroo vendor, so how did this lady get 2 spots, and why what she was selling the same as everyone else's merchandise? i got so tired of seeing hippie skirts and tie-dye t's after the 1st day i didn't even want to buy a bonnaroo T. Also the vendors produced so much smog emmission that it completely defeated the purpose of the festival. my friends campsite was right along side a bunch of vendors, and the air was thick and gray. The food from festival vendors was a bit pricy too, i guess its expensive to feed diesle into your 2 person mobile hotdog stand that hotdogs cost 6 bux.

4. Food. Was reasonable for the most part. Some was outrageous, like the 6 dollar hotdogs and corndogs, others were very affordable. 6 dollars for a decent amount of sweet potato fries and a steak and cheese samosa filled me up, and was out of this world good. Not enough picknick tables! there was plenty of space, but after day 2 of the rain, i really prefered a picknick table to sit on and eat at, then the quicksand that was forming everywhere.

Those are just the generals.... heres even more which i posted directly to the Bonnaroo website earlyer and got reemed out for not having a smokers haze around my mind and for being a critic of the beloved festival.

previous post on Bonnaroo.com

never have i been to a festival that involves camping. never have i been to a festival with so many fake drugs either! i got sold 8 fake doses, my boy got sold a sheet of fake doses, and his girls got sold fake roles... wtf was anyone else sold fake shit? thats such a buzz kill, its not supposed to be commercial, the drugs are supposed to be there to enhance peoples time there, not to rip people off... i was rele dissapointed by this, and totaly bummed.. im not a beginer either, everythingseemed str8 to me and my boy! and we got sold fake from 2 diff heads :( its ashame ppl do these things. bad vibes at broo, havnt been to any other festival, but it seemed fairly common at broo, and deff a big down point that those types of ppl were there, just makes the atmosphere seem icky... broo was not as great as i expected in any respect.

THE ROAST OF BONNAROO

1. everything was way too spread out, except the camping, i was packed in and didnt have enough room for my tent and sunshade-granted it is an 8person tent... but others had room, my section was just packed :( no pod either... camp ed rooney :(

2. i couldnt differenciate between human fecal matter and the mud... something could of been done about that... u think with all the money they make off us, they could at least pave the roads, and push the pot-o-squats back a bit.

3. on the matter of poop, whats with deputy duffus and his crew not picking up after there animals.. by day 3 there was no avoiding the big pies of poop in the middle of the road, that wasnt already consumed with mud.human fecal matter...

4. fake drugs, like i said, bad vibes, sketch ppl, just plain wack.

5. the fountain wasn't on during the hottest part of the day, when i most could of used it, and at night, when it chilled down, it was never off, yea it looked cool, but what about water conservation broo? a little bit of a catch 22 eh?

6. stage reverb. at almost every stage! this was terrible, when i was stuck in the back for a show or two, i couldnt hear the music well, sound quality was ok, and the reverb because of the stage placement was terrible, i thought i was on mt everest hearing a terrible echo!

6.(b) when i was able to get close enough to not hear the reverb, i missed other shows staking my spot over 3 hours in advance... snoop dog came on at 6:30 and i had been waiting in my cramped spot since 2:30

7. 10 dollars... can either get me 2 nitrous ballons, a dose, some other goodie, or not enough food for a meal. things happend and i ended up living off festival food, and it seemed as if most things were 10 dollars a piece, except the samosas, they were amazing.

8.what organizational skills we have! obviously no one at broo was every a desk secretary... nothing was logicaly done, at least i saw no logic to it, coming and going was confusing. i had an emergency and had to leave saturday night ( which i wasnt able to do)( glad i didnt), not one security or information personel could tell me how to get my jam packed car out, neighbors were hopeless on the situation, and no staff offerd to help.

9. map of vendors... there should of been a general map of the vendors... i volunteerd for Love Hope Strength, and it took me untill saturday to find them, but by then i knew the place like the back of my hand... but still, thank god my shift wasnt untill sunday! planet roo was hidden, there was no general layout or pattern to follow either, nothing was placed strateigicaly and it was as if ppl just set things up whereever... i think thats why i missed alot of the vendors i wanted to see, or perhaps overlooked them.

10. comedy and cinema tent were hidden... they were so far back i was affraid to walk back there the 1st few days because it looked so dead i thought they were deserted.open space. or restricted areas... i never ended up at either

11. too many similar acts playing at once! i enjoy the decemberists, but i also enjoy of montreal... point is, i only got to see a little of both, and wasnt able to get close to either :(

12.volunteers with interactive artwork pods didnt realy involve the patron. pod 8 was dead, and apparently it was interactive art, something to write on with chalk, some structure... my friend was a volunteer at pod 8 and didnt even know ne thing about it.

13. 21+ wristbands... yea sometimes they end up in the wrong hands, but who realy wants to carry their ID with them throughout the festival? just a greater risk of losing it! plus if you unknowingly serve some underage kids, they usualy bring in more of the money, because they just want beer, and mind less about festival beer prices because its more accesable

14. lines at the entrance. this could of been solved by adding one or 2 more smaller entrances, and creating more exits. the 1st day it took me forever to find the entrance, i walked to like 3 gates and was wrong everytime.

15. IMPORT GLASS! dont buy it, it supports terrorism... supposively its super hard to be a vendor at broo, so how did those guys make the cut??

15.(vendors part II) didnt it seem like you just kept seeing the same things over and over again for sale? ive been to even local festivals that had more variety than broo did... and ppl come from all over to broo!

16. golf carts/taxis... RAN ME OVER! thanx i have a broken toe now!

17. security, searched the wrong people and confiscated the dumbest things... my car wasnt searched at all, didnt even look in the cooler! i know people who got in with glass, and if i had stepped on it, well, lets just say there would be no broo 2010 cause id of sued them for everything theyve got...

18.WRISTBANDS! ok, so everyone knows they are one of the best souvenirs, but when you cant save them because youve either cut or burned them off, it rele sux, THANK YOU HTEX! if you were so concernd about ppl getting in, then maby you should of upped security, and fenced the woods where a few of my friends walked on in for free!

19. TALKED UP. talked up and hyped up way more than it should of been, half the stuff they talked about was either impossible to find, or so hard to involve yourself in that it wasnt worth it!

20. DEAD BODIES... how long does it take to find one... apparently more than 2 days- way to be concious of your surroundings

sorry to bash, but these things combined made the festival very dissapointing to me. i guess im a critic. i know nothing can be perfect, but i know there are more festivals out there who dont have many of these issues!

did anyone else find any of these things fustrating?

i was told broo isnt for me, but i like my style, and my style is organized, and i organize time for the unplanned, but these faults just made my trip over a stone into a trip over a boulder. there were plenty of people who had organized agendas and ideals that were not satisfyed besides myself. if you out there, holler for CHANGE! but overall, yes broo was great for what it was.
